I have moved over to wordpress.org! You can now find my blog at www.retrolovephotography.com
I’ve just posted my project 365: week 8 recap HERE
This will be my last post here, so please join me on my new blog! (current subscribers, please make sure to change your subscription – a link is provided on my new blog)
I hope to see you all there!
Hi!
Another weekly recap:
Day 47: I’ll never get tired of the beach…
Day 48: A rooster and chickens!

Day 49: I’ve been working on a few more quotes
Day 50: Flash photography workshop in LA! (lunch break – the sitting area – reviewing all our photos after taking photos for an hour – killer traffic in LA) It was awesome! I’ll have to post photos soon

Day 51: I completely forgot about my photo of the day until I was all cosy in bed watching the Grammys, and then it hit me – Oh well, I’ll just take a photo of Adele and call it a day…
Day 52: The day before Valentine’s day! I baked this cookie for my husband. It looked way better than it tasted (I hate icing)

Day 53: Work.

Some news: After a lot of hair pulling trying to get the design of my blog right (I tried out so many themes on my test blog but none of them have all the things I’m looking for), I have decided to move to wordpress.org. It’ll give me a lot more flexibility with the design, and I’ll finally have my own dot com. I’m going to work on it this week end, and I’m hoping to be able to officially announce the new blog in about 2 weeks. Fingers crossed. I’ll be happy once this is done as I’ll be able to focus on blogging and creating new tutorials again, rather than just fighting with the design.
Talking about tutorials, I’m going to be working on a new one this week end: light painting!
That’s it for now
Hi!
Another weekly recap!
Day 40: Just received the Hunger Games book trilogy. One of my goals this year is to read at least 10 books. I’ve finished the first one and started the 2nd.
Day 41: Bonfire!

Day 42: Quick ferry ride
Day 43: Gwen’s 3rd birthday party

Day 44: Super Bowl and my husband’s 29th Birthday. I baked his favorite: blueberry muffins!
Day 45: Yeah… balloons…

Day 46: A little black and white action!

I’m going to attend a Flash photography workshop in Los Angeles this Saturday (Julia Dean workshop)
I’m super excited and I’ll make sure to post photos next week!
Hi!
Here’s week 5 of my project 365. Time flies!
Day 33: Working on my new banner for the blog, etsy and business cards. What do guys think of the “final” result? I’m not sure about the font yet, I might try a few more options… I’m just so indecisive.
Day 34: Gyming it up

Day 35: A small glimpse of the ocean.
Day 36: I love Saturdays!

Day 37: Brother in law’s all star game at the Home Depot Center
Day 38: A little what’s in my purse (2 wallets, one for personal use, the other one to keep my business cards+business related receipts, gum, perfume, keys, pen, hair thingy, 3 lip balms because you can never have enough, and a lip gloss. Not pictured: the rest of the mess in my purse)

Day 39: A little flat action.

Hi!
So after playing around with my test blog, I just decided to ago ahead and change the theme of my blog to prepare for the new design. I have just changed the header so far (I’m not sure it’ll be the final one) and will keep on making changes over the next week.
I just wanted to warn everyone, this is definitely not the final look!
I’ll be back tomorrow with a 365 recap
I’ve officially been doing this project for over a month! I’m so glad I haven’t given up yep even though a lot of my photos have been quite questionable. I’m still having fun with it and cannot wait to make some sort of collage out of it. I’m still thinking about what I want to make out of all these photos.
Day 26: Wikipedia was on a blackout, so here’s a little photo for stop SOPA
Day 27: Dentist time…

Day 28: Hanging out at my sister in law’s house. That’s cute little Gwen
Day 29: Rainy morning. I tried to be artsy and take a photo of the rain drops on the window but I couldn’t control the focus properly. Oh well.

Day 30: The Beast (yes, I already used Cookie for a photo of the day, but that one is just totally different)
Day 31: Paris? Going back to the motherland this summer (it’s been at least 5 years, I can’t even remember). Playing with Christmas ornaments here.

Day 32: YES! Working on some new blog/shop/Retro Love design with my sister in law. She’s a great artist and drew my portrait yesterday for my new logo. I guess the final result is me with a few enhancements…

So after yesterday’s drawing session, I started working on a new blog design today. It’s very frustrating as I want to change my theme but they don’t all have the same width so it just messes up everything. It’s also hard to find a theme with all the features that I’m looking for. But anyways, I created a private test blog and have been playing with that for now and will make the changes to this blog once I am ready. I hope it’ll happen soon!
It’s time for another project 365 Wednesday!
I’ve only been blogging about my project 365 lately and that kinda sucks. I REALLY want to get better at blogging on a more regular basis (plus it’s on my 26 before 26 list).
Anyways, here’s the recap.
Day 19: Q&A a day – A 5 year journal. This journal is a lot of fun, let’s see if I can keep it up for 5 years…
Day 20: Working on Etsy orders!

Day 21: Dying tulips
Day 22: Ok, I totally cheated, I obviously did not take this photo. But I thought the husband and I looked so cute all dressed up, I just had to use this photo.

Day 23: We had a very lazy Sunday and just stayed home all day so I did not have much to photograph. I already did the flowers, the dog, so I thought the husband would be my next victim.
Day 24: We had lunch in Laguna Beach and walked around for a little bit to take some photos. I took the DSLR out but I have yet to look at the photos on the computer, retouch them, and see if they are blog worthy. Anyways, I love this lifeguard tower!

Day 25: I love palm trees.

Hi!
It’s project 365 Wednesday, time for a new weekly recap!
A lot of pool and beach time this week
Day 12: Stocking up on my scrabble prints for my Etsy shop
Day 13: Happy Birthday to me! Nice little dinner at Ruth’s Chris (yummy banana cream pie) and a little blue box. Again, the Iphone camera is not quite ideal for low light situations.

Day 14: The Cookie monster!
Day 15: Relaxing Day

Day 16 & 17: Beach time! Need I say more?

Day 18: And when it’s not the beach, it’s the pool!

Hi!
So this year, instead of making New Year’s resolutions, I decided to make a list of 26 goals I’d like to achieve before my 26th birthday.
I’ve been working on this list for a few weeks now, and it’s changed quite a few times. Since I am turning 25 today, I thought it would be appropriate to blog about this now. Some goals are really small, some are quite big, some are photography related, some are not.
So anyways, Happy Birthday to me, and here’s my list:

1) Complete a 365 project
2) Make a photo book/collage of the completed project: I’m not sure yet if I want to make a photo book or create some sort of collage on a poster. And obviously I will need to accomplish goal 1 first!
3) Make 50 sales on Etsy
4) Make a video of our summer trip: Brandon and I are going to Europe this summer and I’d love to make another video.
5) Learn more about photography: I feel like I’ve been resting on my laurels for quite a while now and I know that I still have so much more to learn. So this year, I’d like to focus on improving my skills and learning new things through the use of tutorials, books, workshops…
6) Complete couch to 5K: I don’t really know why I’ve added this to my list as I hate running and cannot run to save my life. Maybe I just want to prove myself that I CAN become a runner? I guess we’ll see…
7) Try street/candid photography: I’ve always wanted to take some candid photographs in Venice Beach but I’m just shy and afraid of getting caught. I really want to give this a try this summer.
8) 200 listings on Etsy
9) Read 10 books: This is probably a low number for a lot of people. I’ve been really bad about reading this year. I’ve started so many books but haven’t finished a single one.
10) Make at least 5 projects from my DIY pinterest board: I love my pinterest DIY board. But I guess it’s about time I actually MAKE some of these pretty things instead of just looking at them on my board.
11) Redesign my blog: I really want to give my blog a new look and make it easier to browse with more visible categories tabs, buttons…
12) Be more consistent with blogging: I want to blog on a more regular basis. I’m liking my new 365 project Wednesdays, so I’m going to work on finding other themes for specific days of the week.
13) Move out: Brandon and I want to buy a condo.
14) Get a job: something in the photography field would be awesome too!
15) Make some photo blocks
16) Buy a Diana camera: I’ve been dying to get one for so long now!
17) Start using my new email address with my married name: I have already made the email account, but I haven’t gotten around to telling everyone about it and changing all my subscriptions/website memberships to my new email.
18) Create 2013 calendars: I love the photo calendars that a lot of people are making on Etsy but I’m always too late to the party. I really want to work on them this year!
19) Work on my own photoshop actions pack
20) Bake Christmas cookies: I used to bake a lot of christmas cookies and I miss this tradition
21) Improve my photoshop skills: Same things as with the photography, I’ve just been resting on my laurels lately. There is so much more I want to learn.
22) Post at least 24 tutorials
23) Be more organized: This is very vague, but I’m mainly talking about my computer. My files are a mess, I don’t know where anything is. I have so many different versions of all my photos it’s getting too messy. I also need to back up my photos more often.
24) Find a theme and start a photo series
25) Take more photos: I usually only carry my DSLR around when we go on “special” trips. I want to take photos on a more regular basis and not just wait for a special occasion or trip to take photos with my DSLR
26) Take photos with the Diana camera during our summer trip: Obviously, I need to achieve goal 16 first!
Anyways, that’s it for my goals. I’ll post updates on a regular basis and a final recap on my 26th birthday.
Do you have a similar list of goals?
Hi!
Here’s my first project 365 recap! It’s been more than a week, but I’ve stepped away from the blog/etsy for a little bit over the holidays. It’s been nice overall, but I’m happy to be back! All my project 365 recaps will now be posted every Wednesdays.
I’d also like to add that I have officially made it further than last year! I hope it’s a good sign… I’m not happy with all my photos, but I’m still having fun with it so I’m not worried. I hope to see progress throughout the weeks when it comes to my creativity.
Anyways, here are the first 11 days of the project!
Day 1: I started the project on December 24th, so I thought it would be appropriate to take a photo of the Christmas tree.
Day 2: I love eggnog! Definitely one of the yummiest new drink I’ve tasted since moving to the United States.

Day 3: A quick palm tree shot. The weather has been so beautiful here in southern California. While it’s hard to get in the Christmas spirit when you’re walking around in a dress and flip flops, I’m definitely enjoying the year round sunny weather.
Day 4: I have no words for this photo. I wasn’t really thinking about my photo of the day and before I knew it, the day was almost over and did not know what else to photograph. Oh well, I’m sure there will be plenty of other days like that this year…

Day 5: I like how the fire station looked over the holidays. It’s quite challenging to take night photos with the Iphone though.
Day 6: Beautiful day in Laguna Beach. Just hanging out at the beach

Day 7: I’ve been wanting to play with a polaroid for so long. My mother in law is letting me borrow hers! Now I just have to get some film…
Day 8: We decided to take it easy this year and spent New Year’s Eve at my sister in law’s house. We roasted marshmallows, yum.

Day 9: January 1st – waking up at noon and relaxing by the pool
Day 10: We drove by the Bolsa Chica wetlands in Huntington Beach

Day 11: Some sort of New Year’s resolution representation: saving money!
